Michelle Andrade:
I Look Better on Paper

I Look Better on Paper, a solo presentation of drawings by Michelle Andrade, explores the messy terrains of mental health, self-perception, and emotional survival through wit, vulnerability, and obsessive detail.

Her playful, pattern-filled aesthetic creates a visual language that is both inviting and uneasy. The interplay of image and text drifts between the ordinary and the intimate, turning passing thoughts into works that are both playful and poignant.

This exhibition debuts a new series of drawings that extend Andrade’s diaristic practice into fresh, revealing territory—at once humorous, tender, and deeply personal.

Michelle Andrade was born in Encino, CA. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design. Her practice spans painting, drawing, books, text, and pattern-making, often transforming private reflections into shared visual conversations.
